Services — Design Systems

Great products need strong foundations.

A design system is the bedrock of a modern digital product. When it's built properly, everything becomes easier — design is more consistent, development is faster, accessibility is embedded and teams stop solving the same problems over and over again.

We audit, rebuild and create industry-standard design systems that connect Figma with production code, giving design and engineering teams one shared foundation to build from.

Build your system

01 The problem

Most design systems aren't really systems.

A Figma library isn't a design system. Neither is a collection of coded components.

Over time, digital products accumulate inconsistencies: duplicated components, arbitrary spacing, inaccessible colours, one-off patterns, disconnected code and design libraries, and documentation nobody maintains.

Eventually, teams stop knowing which version is right.

Design gets slower. Development gets harder. The product becomes inconsistent.

We help fix the foundation rather than continuing to build on top of it.

02 Design system audits

Before we rebuild, we find the cracks.

You may not need a completely new design system.

We can audit your existing product, Figma libraries and coded components to understand what's working, what's missing and where unnecessary complexity has crept in.

We look across:

  • Component architecture
  • Design tokens
  • Figma libraries
  • Storybook
  • Accessibility
  • Responsive behaviour
  • Documentation
  • Code alignment
  • Governance

The result is a clear picture of the health of your system — and a practical roadmap for improving it.

03 The foundations

Tokens first. Everything else follows.

A scalable system starts below the component layer.

We create structured design tokens that define the fundamental decisions behind your interface — colour, typography, spacing, sizing, borders, elevation, states and responsive behaviour.

Instead of designers and developers repeatedly choosing individual values, those decisions become part of the system.

Change the brand colour:

Primitive

Semantic

action.primary
surface.primary
text.accent
border.focus

Primitive tokens → Semantic tokens → Component tokens → Product. Change the foundation and the system responds.

04 Components that scale

Build it once. Use it everywhere.

Buttons shouldn't need redesigning every time they're used. Neither should forms, tables, navigation, modals or hundreds of other interface patterns.

We create reusable component libraries with clearly defined variants, states, behaviours and responsive rules.

  • Buttons
  • Forms
  • Inputs
  • Navigation
  • Cards
  • Tables
  • Modals
  • Alerts
  • Search
  • Filters
  • Pagination
  • Data visualisation

Complex components are designed as part of a wider system rather than isolated screens.

That gives product teams the building blocks to create new experiences quickly without gradually designing a different product every time.

05 Design to code

Design and code should speak the same language.

A design system shouldn't stop at Figma.

We structure design libraries so that tokens, naming conventions, components, variants and behaviours can align closely with their equivalents in code.

  1. Figma
  2. Tokens
  3. Storybook
  4. Production

Designers work with components that reflect what's actually available to developers. Developers have a reliable reference for how those components should look and behave.

The result is fewer interpretation gaps, less duplicated work and a much smoother path from design to production.

06 Accessibility

Accessibility isn't a final check. It's part of the system.

Accessibility problems become expensive when they're discovered after hundreds of screens have already been designed and built.

We approach accessibility at system level.

Colour contrast, typography, focus states, interaction states, touch targets, keyboard behaviour, validation and component patterns can all be considered when the foundations are created.

That means accessibility isn't something every designer and developer has to rediscover independently. It's built into the components they use every day.

WCAG-conscious by design.

07 Built for real products

From marketing sites to complex platforms.

A five-page website and a global banking platform don't need the same design system.

We adapt the architecture to the complexity of the product and the teams using it.

For smaller organisations, that might mean establishing a clean visual language, token structure and core component library.

For enterprise teams, it can mean multiple products, themes and brands sharing a common foundation — with sophisticated components, coded libraries, accessibility standards and governance.

  • Mobile
  • SaaS
  • Fintech
  • Enterprise
  • E-commerce
  • Multi-brand platforms

08 Governance

A design system is never finished.

Products change. Brands evolve. New requirements appear. Teams grow.

Without governance, even the best design system eventually starts fragmenting.

We establish the documentation, contribution models and working practices teams need to maintain the system after we've finished building it. That can include:

  • Component documentation
  • Usage guidance
  • Contribution models
  • Naming conventions
  • Versioning
  • Release processes
  • Ownership

The goal isn't to make your team dependent on us.

It's to leave you with a system your team knows how to evolve.

09 AI-native design systems

Design systems are becoming machine-readable.

AI is changing how digital products are designed and built.

Well-structured tokens, components, documentation and coded libraries don't just help humans work more efficiently — they give AI development tools a much clearer understanding of how your product should be built.

We can structure systems to support modern AI-assisted design-to-code workflows, helping teams move from approved designs to functional prototypes and production code faster while retaining the rules of the design system.

Less prompting from scratch. More building from an established system.

10 How we work

Audit. Rationalise. Build. Connect. Govern.

  1. 01

    Audit

Review the existing product, Figma libraries, tokens, coded components and accessibility.

  2. 02

    Rationalise

Remove duplication, establish naming conventions and define the architecture of the system.

  3. 03

    Build

Create tokens, foundations, components, variants, patterns and responsive behaviours.

  4. 04

    Connect

Align Figma with Storybook and production components so design and engineering share the same language.

  5. 05

    Validate

Test components across real product scenarios, breakpoints, interaction states and accessibility requirements.

  6. 06

    Govern

Document the system and establish how components are maintained, updated and contributed to over time.

Is your design system helping — or holding you back?

Whether you're starting from scratch or sitting on years of accumulated components, tokens and technical debt, we can help turn it into a system your designers and developers actually want to use.
